Whoa, it's been awhile! Here's where I've been: my laptop got stolen awhile back, so I was using my desktop exclusively for awhile,
until that burned out. Oddly enough although I wasn't actually using it when it happened, I did happen to be looking right at it. It was on,
then suddenly, it was off - never to come back on again. I'm 90% sure it was the power supply, and 5% sure it was the power button, and 4.3% sure
I have no idea what I'm talking about; oh and of course, 0.7% sure that I am not sure about anything. I know it would have easy enough to get another power supply and get it up and running again, but it never happened.
Well, it all started when I had to nearly take the entire case apart just to get to the power button to see what was up with it. And I mean almost
the entire case had to come apart. When I finally got to it, about all I could tell was that the wires were still connected - whoopee. Well, one thing
lead to another, yada yada yada, and before you know it I had my little Hard Drive inside a friends computer *gasp*! Strangely enough I couldn't get her
computer to boot from my HD. I was at least able to load it up as a slave and therefore I was able to get some data off of it, including what I needed
most - my computer name (so I could play Hellfire and The Dark characters on a new machine) - which was an adventure all in itself. Well, by that time
everything about the machine was completely taken apart, and I wasn't really motivated to put it back together. After all, it's about 6 years old, so it
was time to let it rest in pieces. Phew.
Well, I finally got my new laptop after jumping through all the insurance company's hoops. Dell E1505 Dual core. Of course with all the junk that
ANY company puts on their machines, I've reformatted and installed Windows and some software. I'm working on getting some answers about tweaking XP before
I really load EVERYTHING back on. I swear, I can't get a straight answer from anyone about how to change the look of "User Accounts" in the control panel.
I just can't stand the "Pick a Task..." whatever junk... ugh... BAH! The thing that
looks like this!

Updated rarity calc (and linked version) to include armor/weapon racks in final calculations. Assumed is one rack per type per
game. That translates to an armor or weapon rack on dlvl 15 about 1 in 11 games, which feels about right. And that is that.
01 Nov 2005
I updated the rarity calc so now you can choose one or two-handed swords, instead of being limited to all or none. The
linkable version has been updated to it is easier on the eyes too. I may update it again in the near future, because I
want it to take into account armor/weapon racks, but I am not sure if it does. I always had planned to, but it has been
awhile, and when I was going through the code again, I didn't see where I would have included it into the calculations.
Anyways, it would be helpful to know how often they appear (I know that no more than one per type can spawn an item per game).
I am working on learning php and will be overhauling the site's design in a few months. At that time I am going to be starting
new characters playing with the mods in DPE (more...), keep track of their character rankings, and tally
member rankings. Anyone interested can do the same. The new pages will use the same database as the forums, so all you would
need to do is create a forum account. On the main site there will be member pages where you can keep track of your character
and member rank with checkboxes (i.e. if you complete something new, go to page, mark checkbox, and update). If anyone wants I can
also provide some webspace where you can upload character backups). That's 'Spout it!
Oh yeah, if anyone wants to help with anything (especially color schemes/graphics), it would be welcome :)

Oh boy, exciting! I just spent all night configuring and messing around with a new Forum. Disclaimer:
you may not believe that statement when you see the results, but really I did. I just deleted most of what I don't need yet.
Anyways, I wrote an annoucement in the forum so check there for the rest.

Ok, the "item source" raido buttons are fixed so they don't keep changing the selected source. It should also be a little
bit easier to tell when one of the radio buttons is disabled (meaning that the item currently selected isn't available from
that source). If you want a good idea of how it works, try looking up the price for a King's club of haste. Start with the
base item as a club, then check each base item down to Maul. The only useful one that can actually be bought at Gris is a
flail (it's one-handed), but then again, who wants a flail?

The Dark 5.2 is out, but I can't play it yet! *Sigh*... Oh well. There's no new updates either - but I guess that isn't
very suprising either. I've even run out of fly-by-night gimmicks like the last update. I think that I will FINALLY fix
the item price calculator so it doesn't keep changing the "item source" on us. (Holy cow I just realized it's been like a
year since I made it.) Also, I will change it to display the re-sell price even for items that can't normally be bought,
like Godly plates of the whale, etc. It will not show the prices for items that can't be bought in town. Yes, it might be
interesting, but I don't want anyone (especially myself) shopping for items that can't be bought in the first place just
because the calculator reported a price for it.

There isn't anything new going on, but I just wanted to let everyone know I was alive. You may notice something a little
odd... DON'T PANIC!! I have simply (temporarily) removed the CSS style information. I find it interesting how much the
structure and look of the site can be seperated using Style Sheets. In fact, you can even structure a site using styles
alone, but I don't like to. I think that's it. I will probably replace the style next week. Boy, this update was really
boring - not to mention you might go blind from these colors...
03 Feb 2005
Today I'd thought that I'd post a little bit of an idea that has entertained my mind over one-too-many sleepless nights so that I might get
some sleep and then start working on getting my driver's license back (kidding - but in all reality, the warnings not to operate heavy machines
on some over the counter medicines are real!). My goodness this paragraph has already gotten so far off topic that I think I might need to start
another one. I don't do drugs, I promise; I pass on grass. *deep breathing*...
I thought it would be really cool to have a dedicated server where players could play legit and not have to worry about any of the BS on b.net.
I know it has been done before, hear me out. There would be a web community to go along with server events that would include forums,
member and character pages, strategy, and a ranking system. Although compatible with 1.09, all members would be requested to start new
characters for the server to help add some life into the game. The goal would be like a D2 realm (although characters would still be saved
on local drives, of course, and we would rely on the "honor-system"). The server would host 1.09, slighty modified, Hellfire:fixed, con
permiso, and Hellfire: The Dark, also with permission - All of which I have no idea how to do. "Relax, Luther, it is much more difficult than
you think." If any of that interests you, Read On...

OH MY! I am the biggest 1D10T ever! So... the rarity calc hasn't been working right since SEPTEMBER (since I added the features from the price
calc)! What happened was I changed the way the "None" and "Any" choices worked to simplify a lot of the code by adding them directly into the
prefix and suffix object arrays. Because I did that, I also needed to change all the references to those choices in the code, which isn't hard.
Well, I did just that for all the code I used from the price calc, but not in the code that was already there! I must have started to change it
way back in September, but then when I fell out of it I must have totally forgotten about all the required changes. wow. Well, needless to
say it is all fixed and should be working exactly how it is supposed to now.

Sorry for the few days of down-time. I forgot to update the service with my new debit card information, so when it came time to renew the domain name, I couldn't pay it and "the man" shut me down. Everything is squared away now though so there's no more worries. I am working on my latest project - mail merge (that'll keep me up past my bedtime...)! I also updated my email so you will no longer get "undeliverable" error messages back. That is, of course, if you are so inclined to do so (but check out the address:).

Wow, this site has been online now for one year! Happy birthday! I thought I'd put up some stats based off this past year.
For this year there has been 9,339 page views and 3,393 unique visits (2 pages requested no more than 30 minutes apart). That makes an average of
three pages viewed each visit, which is the main page, the rarity calc, and tips+tricks. Thanks for the great year, sir, may I have another?!

I have finally gotten around to applying the features of the price calculator to the rarity calculator. You'll now notice that the affix lists
will change dymanically. For instance, if you choose a certain suffix, the list will change so that only valid prefixs with the given suffix
will appear brown, and all invalid suffixs will appear gray (but they will be selectable). Also, selected affix will not be reset to "None" when
changing the item class, as long as that affix is available on the base item of course. Hopefully the changes make it more intuitive. Enjoy!
01 Sep 2004
I seriously can't believe that the price calculator reports the actual price of an item as it stands now. I know this because the price
calculator at www.angelsofhell.com reports a different price than mine so far, and both can't be correct. It would be appreciated if someone
could please verify the price of one of their items in-game to be sure. I would say to email me with the results, but do to some email abuse
I have removed email for a time. Check the forums at the Lounge.

Wow it's been too long (again). Woohoo! Nearly complete on the new project - close enough, in fact, that I am going to release it!
It is an item price calculator. I told you not to expect anything spectacular, BUT it does have some really
cool features. Check it out to find out more. Yes, there are bugs and No, it is not complete, but it is pretty much there.
Enjoy.
01 July 2004
Wow it's been too long. No, I haven't forgotten what I am currently working on, but it isn't ready yet.
I haven't had much time lately to work on ANYTHING, but I just wanted to post this update to let everyone
know that I am still working on it. As for a target date, I am not so sure. There really isn't
much left to do on it. I need to fix one small bug and code one more small function. If there is anything else you may need to know,
send me an email.
20 May 2004
I'm currently working on a new project, and I decided to give a little preview of it to those that still visit
(no, I'm serious, people actually DO visit still). You can view the progress at here. Don't get
too excited, it isn't exactly innovative or revolutionary, but it will have some fun bells and whistles that I will eventually
add to the rarity calc. Not much else has been going on... Yea, I guess I did lie a little bit about not adding any new
content or the like, but really I was only lying to myself.
23 Apr 2004
Fixed a minor bug in the rarity calculator that prevented the "Any" prefix from working properly with axes.
22 Apr 2004
I've fixed a couple words here and there, updated a link or two, and fixed a couple page errors (text color, spacing, etc).
That's about it for now. I might start working on a small app to determine where an item can be found, but I'm not exactly
sure how I'd want it to display. It would be pretty easy though, I could use a ton of code for it from the rarity calc (it
already has all the drop rules coded).
25 Mar 2004
No, I haven't forgotten about this place yet. It is just officially in hibernation, as you may have noticed. Do to my work, I have retired from most online adventures including Diablo and this site. If I do any form of
update, it will be like this one here (few and far between)- sadly, no new content will be added. I will fix spelling and other small errors, perhaps even more if there is enough demand
for it. I can still be contacted at: webmaster AT dpsyche DOT com, if you have any nitpicks or suggestions. Thanks for everyone who still visits, hopefully you
still find it interesting. Feb 2006 is when it will pick up again, and I will complete where I left off (although the "strategy" section will still be last I'm sure,
seeing as how I'll be out of practice).
16 Dec 2003
Ok, to-hit has really been uploaded this time... Like AC, it has a dynamic table to display maximum useful to-hit values. The numbers in the table corespond
to the value for to-hit in the character screen needed to achieve auto-hit (or less depending on what you select). For melee it should be fairly accurate.
For arrows it will only be an estimate. You see, to-hit comes from two sources, dexterity and to-hit% mods. For melee, they both have equal weight, but for
arrows dexterity is weighted more than to-hit% mods. If two characters have 200% in the character screen, one getting most by dexterity and the other mostly
by to-hit% mods, the first character will have a much greater chance to hit with arrows than the first. For the sake of the table, the dexterity was estimated
to be the max base dexterity per class. If you want a closer estimate, simply subtract 5 points from the numbers displayed for every 10 extra dex.
14 Dec 2003
Armory updated. I hope your scroll wheel is working properly - you'll need it.
13 Dec 2003
I noticed the rarity calc was displaying double output for some select items (like: "mlvl 27,28,27,28") so I've redone its output entirely from scratch and
it looks much better. The numbers for rarity have been rounded to four significant digits since isn't an exact value. I was pretty excited
that I got to implement my little algorithm to justify text too. To-Hit and Damage has been uploaded. Strategy is going to be done last, so all that is left before that is bug discussion,
and newbie Diablo! I'm not exactly sure what I original wanted in newbie Diablo save a link to freshman Diablo and a note about FOS shrines and black deaths,
so that is all it's going to have *shrug*. I'd like to add a feeback section to the site, but seeing as I'll be leaving the country for awhile on Jan 14, I
don't think it's going to happen.
Dingos got a good dose of his last enchanted lowering the godly inferno spell to 13 with a level 14 not-so-usefull
heal other spell. I'm debating whether or not Star will get another one. Her last two spells are both level 14, so one more could potentially raise them both
to 15 and lower one that she can read up from 13. I have tons of new muled items to update in the armory, including all my jewelry, so I hope to get that up
soon. Slower connections beware, I keep a lot of crap. Well, most of it is moderately useful for some builds. One a side note, who the hell is trying to get
dpsyche.com/robots.text"?
06 Dec 2003
Tips and Tricks updated as well as character stats (found some shrines). The new output for the calculator is being displayed improperly for a few items,
so I am working on fixing that. I also got my email established so if you have any comments, question, concerns, or adoration simply Mail me.
03 Nov 2003
Wow, its been awhile since I last updated. Thanks (again!?) to DeeBye of the DSF, I got a great webhosting deal from
1&1.com, so I have moved everything over to the new domain! New additions include: character class
info, shrines, blocking, hit recovery, and some more links. Now that I have my account at 1and1.com all set up, I should update more often until it is all
complete.
07 Oct 2003
New site logo - courtesy of DeeBye of the DSF. Armor Class information posted. It includes a dynamic table for AC values for various get-hit percentages,
character levels, and difficulty. Introduction to legitimacy complete (it was missing the definition of legitimate). Item rarity calculator output has been
reworked and should now be displayed much better. Site colors were also applied to the form. Not too many new pages have been
added as I have been cleaning up my current HTML..
01 Oct 2003
Diabolic Psyche launched! So far all that is hosted are: my characters, introduction to legitimacy, the item rarity calculator and a couple links. I'll be
working on the rest and hopefully upload everything under "information" next week. Enjoy your stay and come back soon!
About
In Mid-August I decided the profiles for battle.net accounts were just too small to capture my characters completely. I planned to launch a simple website
linked in my profile so I could post my characters for the world to see. After completing the project of coding the item rarity calculator, I signed up for a small amount
of webspace to host it. Not having forgotten the original plan to host my characters, I started working on the web project - and it started to grow to
enormous proportions. I was virtually planning to have it cover everything I had learned about this game. Needless to say, that just wasn't feasible, but I
did decide on what to focus on.
Diabolic Psyche is dedicated to legitimate classic Diablo gaming. For those that aren't legit or do not know what it means, check the
Introduction to Legitimacy. Along with my personal characters, you will find valuable information about some common game
mechanics and invaluable information for players new to the legitimate Diablo community. As you explore around and this site grows, hopefully you will come to understand that there is much more
to this game than just playing and that I truely have Diablo on the brain.
